Stress and Rescue Course

Rewarding and fun – that best describes the PADI Rescue Diver course. This course will expand your knowledge and experience level: Rescue Divers learn to look beyond themselves and consider the safety and well being of other divers. Although this course is serious, it is an enjoyable way to build your confidence.

You can choose to pay the deposit only and pay the balance when your course starts or pay the full amount now when you book.

We will need a unique email address for each participant. This will be used by them to access their course materials and must be unique to them. This can be changed when they initially log on. Please note that system emails will be sent to this email address so if the voucher is intended as a surprise, please use an alternative, temporary email address.

Don't forget to tell us your preferred start month when you book. Once we receive your booking, we will take a look at our current availability and agree a start date. The preferred date selected is not guaranteed until we confirm the final dates by issuing an agreed schedule.

- What do I need to start?

You can enrol in the Rescue Diver Course as a certified Open Water Diver (or have a qualifying certification from another training organization) and participate in the Rescue Diver knowledge development and rescue training sessions, in confined water only, while working on your Advanced Open Water Diver certification.
To participate in the rescue training sessions in open water, and to participate in the open water rescue scenarios, you must be certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or have a qualifying certification from another training organization.

Minimum age: 15 years old (12 for PADI Junior Rescue Diver)

Successful completion of a sanctioned CPR program within the past 24 months. The Emergency First Response Primary Care (CPR) and Secondary Care (First Aid) courses meet these requirements.

- What will I do?

Rescue Diver training will prepare you to prevent problems and, if necessary, manage dive emergencies. During the five open water sessions, you'll cover:
  • Self-rescue and diver stress
  • AED and emergency oxygen delivery systems
  • dive first aid
  • swimming and non-swimming rescue techniques
  • emergency management and equipment
  • panicked diver response
  • underwater problems
  • missing diver procedures
  • surfacing the unconscious diver
  • in-water rescue breathing protocols
  • egress (exits)
  • first aid procedures for pressure related accidents
  • dive accident scenarios
- How long will it take?

These Courses can be undertaken separately or for anyone looking to complete their Rescue Course, all 3 elements should be completed, one of which is optional but highly recommended. There are additional costs for these elements.

Emergency First Response (CPR & First Aid Course with Automated External Defibrillator). This is compulsory unless you have an alternative, current, CPR certification and takes 1 full training day in the classroom. This day can also be used as a refresher course for existing first-aiders.

Oxygen Administration. This is optional and requires 1 full classroom day. We normally combine additional scenario elements of the EFR First Aid Course with and the optional Oxygen Administration course into 1 full day of training. This allows us to integrate Oxygen use into the practice scenarios.

Rescue Course. 1 Full academic day followed by at least 5 pool sessions and 1 day of Open Water training.
